Position Summary

Position: Repair Engineering Intern (Summer 2026) 

Location: Houston, TX

Academic Schedule: May – August 2026 (full-time, 40 hours per week, 12-15 week internship)

 

During your ITT internship, you will conduct various engineering projects in one or more areas of Engineering. Interns will also have exposure to and learn various aspects of Engineering practices in these areas during the course of a twelve-to-fifteen-week experience. Our ITT interns also participate in our summer Career Readiness programming which provides professional development and networking opportunities that will equip you with the skill sets required to successfully transition from college to career.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing repair quotes by gathering technical and cost information under guidance
  • Support the creation and review of basic engineering drawings for parts and repairs
  • Help track ongoing jobs and ensure timelines are met (parts, subcontracting, shipments)
  • Participate in job intake and data entry for incoming repair work
  • Work with engineers and technicians to provide production and shop support
  • Assist in coordinating with subcontractors, including follow-ups, tracking deliveries, and quality checks
  • Support customer follow-ups and communication alongside the sales and engineering team
  • Help identify repair improvements or upgrade opportunities for customers

Position Requirements

  • Senior undergraduate student in the areas of mechanical, industrial, general, or nuclear engineering
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems (pumps or rotating equipment is a plus)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD) is helpful
  • Understanding of manufacturing and repair processes (classroom and lab level acceptable)
  • Basic knowledge of materials, tolerances, and mechanical components
